Seamless - how iTunes Should Work

One of the things I really do not like about iTunes is the lack of cloud support. Every single time you have to do anything between devices, you have to plug in a cable and manually sync your library.

This is 2011. We have this thing called the internet and wireless networks. Use it!

Five Details, the company behind the excellent file transfer tool "flow" have come up with a solution. It is called "Seamless." And it allows you to seamlessly transition your music between your mac and your iPhone.

As they put it:

It's 9AM, and you're at home getting dressed to go to work. You've got iTunes open, and "Back in Black" is playing. You're totally into it, rocking out with your air-guitar, but you've got to go to work now. So you obviously want to keep listening to it on your way.

You pause iTunes, open iPod.app on your iPhone, find "Back in Black", and start playing it.

We've all been there, so you know why this sucks: you've interrupted the song!

The groove! The beat! You just killed it.

Meet Seamless. When you're ready to transition music from iTunes to iPod, tap Seamless on your phone, and boom. The music fades out on the Mac, and fades in on the phone.

The user experience is absolutely brilliant. If you listen to a song in iTunes, you just click the "transition button" and it immediately starts playing on your iPhone instead.

It also works the other way around. If you are listening to a song in your iPhone, just transition it to your mac, and it will immediately start to play there instead.

It simply cannot get simpler than that. And it is a great concept that needs to be taken to the next step!
